India’s Bharti Airtel announced the launch of HSPA+ technology by its Zambian subsidiary, Airtel Zambia, the Economic Times reported. According to the publication, the Zambian mobile operator already has 280 cell sites in operation using the technology, covering all of the countries provincial districts. It plans to roll out up to 400 more by the end of the year. Offering theoretical downlink speeds of up to 21Mbps, Fayaz King, Airtel Zambia’s managing director, said that the higher transfer rates would allow its customers the opportunity to interact with data in a different way. |
