NSN scores two big Asian contracts

24 Jan. 2012

South Korean mobile network operator KT Corp and India’s Bharti Airtel have reached agreements with vendor  Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), TeleGeography CommsUpdate reported.

Ericsson will work on KT’s deployment of its 4G LTE network, and it will extend its deal with Airtel to serve as the managed service partner in eight of India’s telecom circles.

According to NSN, it will provide KT its 1800MHz LTE radio equipment for the infrastructure rollout, including its Flexi Multiradio base stations. It also will provide services including network integration and commissioning as part of its deal with KT.

NSNs’ NetAct operations support system will enable effective monitoring, management and optimization of KT’s LTE infrastructure.

The vendor noted that KT is planning to meet growing demand for mobile broadband and smartphone data by refarming its 1800MHz spectrum.

Along with its duties managing services for Airtel NSN will maintain the cellco’s 3G and GSM networks as well as iWAN (internet Wireless Access Network), the operator’s enterprise broadband service.

Using its global service delivery model, NSN noted it will provide network optimization, operations and maintenance services remotely from its Global Network Solutions Center (GNSC) in Noida, India, as part of the renewed deal.
