Movilnet reaches 400 W-CDMA/HSPA base stations

Venezuelan state-owned cellco Movilnet reached a total of 400 operational W-CDMA/HSPA base stations throughout the country and aims to increase the number to 582 in the first half of this year.

The 400th UMTS base station to be commissioned was in the town of Paramillo, Tachira State adding to existing coverage in cities such as Caracas, Maracay, Barquisimeto, San Cristobal, Puerto La Cruz, Porlamar, Puerto Ordaz, Maturin, Maracaibo and Valencia, providing 3G/3.5G services including high speed Internet access.
