CounterPath, Digium launch Asterisk-based multimedia softphone

CounterPath Corporation, a provider of desktop and mobile VoIP software products and solutions, and Digium, the Asterisk Company, launched a co-branded voice over IP softphone platform: Bria for Asterisk.

Designed for small, medium and large enterprises and certified by CounterPath, Bria for Asterisk takes the advanced telephony and multimedia communications features found on Asterisk servers and brings them to the desktop level, improving employee productivity and collaboration.

Based on open standards, Bria for Asterisk combines Digium’s Asterisk, AsteriskNOW and Asterisk Business Edition telephony platforms with Bria Professional, CounterPath’s enterprise-class, multimedia softphone. Bria for Asterisk gives users advanced telephony features and can be set up with any Asterisk deployment.

Bria for Asterisk turns any PC into a multimedia communications center. Users can see presence information for their colleagues, initiate multiparty and multimedia conference calls, access telephony services from Microsoft Outlook and initiate call-handling options, all with just a mouse click.
