Truphone offers MVNO over Vodafone UK’s network

Voice over IP provider Truphone signed a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) deal with British cellco Vodafone UK, TeleGeography CommsUpdate reported.

Under terms of the agreement Truphone will have access to Vodafone’s UK mobile network, allowing it to deliver voice and data services to its Truphone Local Anywhere subscribers. The MVNO’s service will offer a unique hook, allowing customers to pay local rates in countries where it has wholesale partnerships, while users will also be able to store multiple local mobile numbers for different countries on a single SIM.

Truphone has said that similar wholesale partnerships are being prepared for other key travel destinations this year in such as Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa
