Portugal Telecom opposes mobile termination rate plans

Portugal Telecom (PT) spoke out against plans to cut mobile termination rates (MTRs), claiming the proposed changes could threaten ongoing investment in next generation networks, Reuters reports, according to TeleGeography CommsUpdate.

Market regulator ANACOM revealed plans to reduce MTRs by almost 50 percent, while ending inequalities between operators’ rates, in quarterly steps until April 2011.
