Orange Dominicana to launch 3G

Dominican mobile network operator Orange Dominicana is preparing to introduce 3G services according to local press reports, TeleGeography CommsUpdate reported.

According to the report in El Dia, the cellco’s users will be able to connect to the Orange Net 3G+, which will offer download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. Orange said that it will spend approximately USD25 million on introducing the service in 2010, which inititally will be available in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Bavaro, although it will be extended to other areas of the country over the course of the next twelve months.
