Motorola to expand Zain’s GSM network

U.S.-based equipment vendor Motorola signed a multi-million dollar deal with Kuwaiti telecoms group Zain to expand mobile coverage and capacity and enhance service quality in rural and unserved regions of Nigeria.

The expansion to rural areas is expected to have a positive impact on the economic and social well-being of the communities, according to Alain Sainte-Marie, CEO of Zain Nigeria.

When completed, improved data services for mobile users will be available. The project is slated for completion early this year.
