TI, Alca-Lu to test LTE

Equipment vendor Alcatel-Lucent has signed a cooperation agreement with Telecom Italia (TI) to engage a development program, including a Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems trial.

The end-to-end LTE trial will assess how best to deploy next generation mobile access technology and how to exploit its capabilities, in order to introduce new mobile services, while reducing the time-to-market.

The field tests will focus on the usage of small cell solutions to address indoor coverage applications, and their related performance. The company did not reveal which markets would be subject to field trials.
