Empressa cancels broadband plans

Ecuadorian power utility Empresa Electrica Quito (EEQ) cancelled a project to roll out broadband-over-powerline services in a joint venture Electronet, because the telecoms authorities failed to award it a license, BNamericas reports, according to TeleGeography CommsUpdate.

Igor Krochin, manager at EEQ’s local consortium partner in the project, told the news site that the consortium – formed specifically for the project – will now be dissolved.
