Cellcom ordered to stop blocking VoIP

11 March 10

Israel’s Ministry of Communications ordered mobile network operator Cellcom to halt blocking Internet applications including VoIP, Globes Online reports, according to TeleGeography CommsUpdate.

As per its license, Cellcom must allow Internet access for all online services, and the ministry says that cellco’s contracts with customers require infrastructure services and Internet access, but as of January 2010 the operator’s subscribers allegedly were prevented from using a number of applications, including Internet telephony.
