Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, the Ecuadorian state-run incumbent, announced the official launch of a WiMAX wireless broadband network in the city of Loja.

Corporate clients already have access to CNT’s WiMAX facilities, but CNT is expanding its services in the city and the surrounding Loja province to benefit more than 70 rural and suburban communities. Connections are expected to offer speeds of between 64kbps and 6Mbps.
