Illegal Telecom Shut Down in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)has shut down an illegal international gateway exchange set up in a residential area. Two men were reportedly arrested.

The illegal setup was detected through a technical facility installed by the PTA to monitor illegal telecom businesses throughout the country. The illegal setup was using bandwidth for international connectivity while multiple GSM SIMs were being used for local call termination. The confiscated equipment includes one VoIP gateway along with other accessories.
