Telecom New Zealand announced plans to launch its 3G XT mobile network next month. Company CEO Paul Reynolds said the rollout of the UMTS 850MHz platform will be operational across the country from launch day of 13 May.

'This will mean world class 3G mobile service is available, for the first time, in 97% of places where Kiwis live and work," he said.
