Cox Communications has selected China-based Huawei Technologies to provide CDMA-based equipment for its planned wireless network infrastructure. Cox plans to enter the 3G wireless market in the second half of 2009 and will use Huawei’s LTE-ready SingleRAN solution and 3900 Series base stations to connect to customers.

Cox spent $550 million on its wireless licenses in August 2008, reports TeleGeography, and is aiming for a 20 percent market share.
